So as some of you might have known, I participated in the Nottingham 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament with my ball buddies Terence and Wei Nen. Going into the competition, we knew that we did not stand a chance to go through to the semi-finals but hey, the experience was worth the money. Improving together as a team, strengthening our bonds and understanding each other better is of the essence and I know that this won't be the last tournament that we'll be taking part in. I'm just gonna skip to the interesting part where the tournament starts instead of trying to add extra details of how I got there and what we did prior to the event. The day started with a match against team Triple Knight which we all agreed we lost because of a mismatch. Since we were at a size and height disadvantage (which plays quite a big role in a game of basketball) coupled together with the fact that I couldn't even sink a jumpshot from the start to the finish, we couldn't really recover from their lead and lost by 3. Demoralised, we went off to grab a bite and went back later to watch the same team go up against another from our group. To our surprise, the players from Triple Knight were actually much better than we thought they were and trashed the other team by 4-5 points. Happy that we played terrific defense on our end, we went on to our second match which was against the Elites. Another loss was added to our team as a result of a lot of mistakes that we wouldn't and shouldn't have committed. Immediately after the whistle was blown to signify the end of the second match, we were fired up to take the last one to save our image as manly men who would not go down without a fight (cheyy). In the last match, frankly speaking I wasn't very confident that we could win it because my matchup was at least 30 kilograms heavier than I am. I had to stop him from scoring right under the basket but luckily for us, Terence finally showed up to play. He sank all of his shots and we were able to win the game by 1. Wei Nen did a very good job on defense, blocking the opponent thus lowering their confidence and I was able to keep my guy to only 1 point in the entire match. So in the end, we were eliminated from the tournament with a win/loss of 1/2. Nevertheless, we weren't discouraged as we were the youngest team to play in the Open category where most of the players were at least 22-29 while Terence, Wei Nen and I are just 20, 19, 20 (19, 18, 19 considering we haven't had our birthdays yet) respectively. I guess all we're going to do is just keep practising, practising and practising to get better and stronger. I know we'll all be able to do it as long as our passion for basketball continues to  "shine bright like a diamond" (lol, pardon me for inserting that lame line).

PS: I saw a black guy dunk on someone. DAMN THAT FEELING WAS AWESOME! :D
