My friends are not as old as the title suggests. They are regarded as my inner circle of friends which I have left behind ever since I went to KL and yesterday was one of those rare days which I get to hang out with them till late at night without my parents nagging me to come home. I started my eventful day by getting up at 5.45 a.m (!) and waking my brother up as I had to send him to school. Half-an-hour later, my phone started ringing and I quickly went over to pick up the incoming call. TERENCE FOO. He was being a responsible friend for checking on me to make sure I was up and that his transport to basketball was secured. Hehe. So when everyone was ready, my brother and I left home and I drove over to Terence’s house to pick him up and then dropped my brother off at school. As I noticed there were a few of my ex-classmates hanging around at the nearby McDonald’s, Terence and I walked over to them and had a short chat with them to catch up with their progress in life after SPM. We talked for about 15 minutes before we made a move to the basketball court in Pertam. As we were approaching the court, an impatient Jia En called Terence to ensure that we didn’t fly his kite. When we reached, Jia En could be seen dribbling his new ball, LIKE A BOSS! Proud of his yellow and green Spalding Storm, he quickly showed it to us and asked about our opinions. We had to agree it was quite a good buy although I felt that buying a more expensive ball would be better as it would have a better quality and a longer lifespan. Nevertheless, we continued our game of ball till 8.30 when Jia En reluctantly left us to head back to KL. After dropping him at his house, Terence and I went to the same roti canai stall which I terrorised with my appetite. I felt so guilty stuffing my face, thinking about the calories I’m putting into myself but what the heck, food is still food. When we were done, I sent Terence home and headed back myself. I prepared everything when I was back home as I was expecting Glenn, Terence and Jasmine later in the day. At 2.30, Terence was the first to come over and we tried to play a multi-player game of Metal Slug but to no avail. After much frustration, we gave up and then we heard the doorbell rang. My parents and brother had returned home and they were waiting outside. I opened the door for them and shortly after, Glenn and Jasmine arrived at the scene. One of the most unexpected things that happened was that Jasmine asked for a hug when she saw me. I was taken aback as I’m not used to hugging girls unless they really meant something to me. No offense but in my context of the word “something” means she would be my girlfriend. Anyway, we went upstairs to play a few games of carrom and chatted along the way. We also planned our rendezvous point with Jia Lin for the night and we decided that A&W at Dataran Pahlawan would be the best spot for our dinner. I immediately took a shower and got dressed for the occasion. The four of us left my house at 6 and we headed for Jia Lin’s house as we were needed to pick her up. We then left for our dinner in A&W and I enjoyed the rootbeer that was sold there. Although it was sweet, I admit, it hit the spot as I hadn’t tasted it for a very long time. So after we ate, the five of us decided to go for a game of pool. It took a few of us quite awhile before we got the hang of hitting the cue properly. Something interesting happened though.
Glenn: Aiya, foul ball. Isaiah, you can move the cue
anywhere you want.
Isaiah: *takes the cue up, places it behind two
balls and takes aim*
Terence: Eh, boss, what you planning to do?
Isaiah: Just look la. Testing a shot.
Glenn: He wanna show skill la.
Isaiah: *hits and sinks two at once* Hehe. *dances
around*
Glenn and Terence: Wow. What the heck was that?
Isaiah: Lucky shot ba.
It was pure luck though. My skills in pool were as limited as Terence’s skill in football. Hehe. No offense, Foo. Just a comparison. There was also another thing that happened that could keep me laughing for some time.
*phone rings*
Terence: Hello? Pa? Yeah, what’s it? We’re outside now.
What we’re doing-
Jasmine: Aiyo, Terence, don’t lie la. Come here. I know you
want it. (I think she said something like that)
Terence: No, no! We’re just playing pool la.
Isaiah: *uses high pitch voice* Yerr. Terence. Don’t la. Geli la..
Terence: What the fish. No la. Pa, they’re just kidding la.
What?! You want me to come back now?
Isaiah: Shoot. Uncle, Isaiah here. Don’t worry. We’re just hanging
around. Not doing anything stupid. It’s OK. Can trust me.
Terence: See, pa? That’s Isaiah. Don’t worry la. They’re here. No
need to come back adi ar? OK. Bye. *heaves a sigh
of relief*
Isaiah & Jasmine: *laughing like crazy* Woah, Foo. Your father,
strict ar.
Terence: Babi you all. Luckily Isaiah voiced out. Or else I have to
go back adi.
*everyone laughs*
That was totally hilarious and amusing at the same time. To think that an adult trusts me completely not to bring his only son out to do nonsense was quite amazing for me. So anyway, we continued playing till 10 until Jia Lin suggested that we should all go for dessert somewhere near the Renaissance hotel. We all agreed to that and we set of for our new destination. In Terence’s car, Jasmine, Terence and I were having fun with words. I don’t think I could totally remember what we were talking about but I could remember what we were singing throughout the whole journey.
Isaiah: Oooh~ Tiptoe to the window, through the meadow, by
tulips, to the window, Oooh~ Tiptoe to window, by the
tulips.
Terence: *starts to sing along*
Jasmine: Woi, shut up la you two.
Hehe. That was the theme song of Insidious. Gives the goosebumps to some people though. When we reached, the three of us walked over to Glenn and Jia Lin who were waiting for us at the shop. A bowl of coconut milk sago later, we were talking about our future plans and also what to do the next time when we decide to go out. Before I go further, this was also a little funny.
Isaiah: *keeps silent for quite a long time and quietly
sips dessert*
Jia Lin: Eh, why he emo?
Terence: He scared let parents screw. So late adi.
Jia Lin: His parents call adi meh?
Terence: No la. Joking only. Eh boss, why emo?
Isaiah: *looks up and rubs stomach* Feeling guilty la.
Hehe. Eat so sweet.
Jia Lin: Eh, what the heck. Like that also guilty? So thin
adi scared what?
Isaiah: Dunno la. Just feel guilty la. Hehe.
Haha. I guess I’m being too conscious about my weight. I don’t want to get heavier anymore and return to those so-called “fat days” again. It isn’t a nice feeling with an extra baggage on you and it certainly doesn’t look nice with my clothes now. So we all separated as it was getting late. Terence, on the other hand, being the only person who was practically with me throughout the entire day, was too tired to drive home. He decided to crash at my place for the night and so we went home, quickly washed up and we fell asleep the moment our heads touched the pillow. Imagine being awake since 5.45 a.m. till 12. It was just too tiring to handle. That fatigue was also the reason why I am typing all of yesterday’s events today. I hope it’s OK though. Will be going back to KL tomorrow. Got to start studying. Haha.
